A little less than half an hour’s drive from Masaka lies Lwengo, a large rural area with various villages and communities. As in many regions, poverty here is standard rather than exception. People have little to build an existence on and depend on others for their income.

From the main road it takes miles of dust road to reach LWERUDESO, or Lwengo, as it is usually just referred to. This organization dedicates itself to putting an end to the prevailing poverty in this area. There are programmes for children and adults to fight poverty on various terrains and to give people the means to start supporting themselves. From the beginning – children’s day care and a primary school where hundreds of children are taught every day- to basic needs such as clean water, certainty of food, and income generating to programmes for awareness, for example about hiv / aids.
