Lwengo community has suffered consquences of poverty and HIV/AIDS. Children hardly complete primary education and about 95% of adults can't read and write. Though the government is making efforts to make education affordable for many families through its universal education, this has resulted in a state of public schools being overcrowded. Poor classes with less or no facilities and learning materials with more than 100 learners per teacher are very common which makes quality education as good as impossible.

The orphans and vulnerable children are the most victims of the circumstance, they hardly get food, scholastic materials, water, school uniforms, medication, housing and care. Most of these children stay at home and miss an opportunity of education and end up for child labour, HIV/AIDS infection, early pregnancies and other child abuses.

LWERUDESO LCC intends to create a safe school environment to promote learning competences to our learners to create a safe and protective atmosphere free of violence for quality education for the vulnerable children.

  • The children are provided with scholastic materials
  • We advocate for education standards
  • Support other schools to improve on service delivery for quality education
  • Advocate for the disabled children and integrate them in the formal school systems
